We will continue to monitor the developments of COVID-19 and ask that members follow the guidelines on MOH's website in the government's efforts to contain the virus. Please stay safe! March 24 Covid-19 Update On March 20, the Singapore government introduced stric ter safe distancing measure s for the general population in Singapore by applying a ban on any event of over 250 people. In light of this announcement, our George Washington Ball will be postponed until further notice. The new guidelines also state that for any events and gatherings below 250 people, workplaces, or public venues, including restaurants and entertainment venues, the following additional measures are to be adhered to: • maintain a distance of at least one meter between people, and • put in place temperature and health screening measures. Singaporeans are asked to “uphold these safe distancing principles for their own private get-togethers, even if these are being carried out in smaller groups. This means reducing the frequency of such activities, and minimizing physical contact with one another.” Sadly, this means that AAS is also suspending all smaller Connexions events for the period that this advice is in effect, unless we are able to strictly comply with the above measures. The AAS team asks members to continue to follow the MOH guidelines and to remain updated via the MOH website . The AAS team will continue to follow instructions released by the Singapore government. However, in view that we are a non-profit organization, we would ask for everyone’s consideration as far as cancellations and refunds are concerned, so that we are able to minimize the financial impact on the Association. We appreciate that this is a challenging time, but we would like to thank you all for your patience and support as we look forward to resuming our calendar of events as soon as possible. March 20 Covid-19 Update AAS continues to monitor the current Covid-19 situation. In line with the latest MOH guidelines on social distancing , AAS has implemented a cap of 30 registrants to our offsite events and 10 registrants for office events and will ensure there is one meter between seats. However, in regards to our GWB taking place on April 25, we are at this stage still going ahead as we are still 5 weeks away and the situation could change dramatically. AAS Staff are currently working from home, with staff in office as and when necessary. If you need to visit us, please call 6738 0731 to see if anyone is in the office, or email admin@aasingapore.com Latest advisory from MOH - MARCH 18, 2020 Click here for more information. In view of the heightened risk of further importation of COVID-19 to Singapore, all are advised to defer all travel abroad with immediate effect. This supercedes MOH earlier advisory announced on 15 March to defer all non-essential travel abroad. The expansion of the travel advisory is to reduce the risk of infection with the virus when abroad, and spreading it to others when they return. 14-Day Stay-Home Notice for all travellers To further reduce the risk of further importation leading to community spread in Singapore, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce will put in place additional measures for all travellers entering Singapore. From 20 March 2020, 2359 hours, all Singaporeans, Permanent Residents, Long Term Pass holders and short term visitors entering Singapore will be issued a 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN). Health Clearance Requirements - MOH Please refrain from attending any AAS event if you are unwell and continue to practice the following guidelines: March 4 COVID-19 update AAS is following MOH recommendations regarding COVID-19. If you have travelled to Mainland China; Iran; Northern Italy; Republic of Korea in the last 14 days and/or have cold/flu like symptoms, you should seek medical assistance and refrain from attending all AAS events, for a period of 14 days until all symptoms have passed. For more information please click here . Feburary 14 Update Novel Coronavirus and the George Washington Ball We are excited to announce that Saturday, April 25 will be the new date for this year’s George Washington Ball, and nothing else changes: same time, same venue, same fabulous event. We are incredibly appreciative of your patience and support as we responded to Coronavirus in Singapore and the precautionary DORSCON Orange guidelines implemented by the Ministry of Health. Any tickets that have already been purchased for the Ball will be transferred to the new event date, so there is nothing further for you to do beyond putting the new date in your calendar. For guests that are part of a table party, we will be working with your head of table to coordinate final confirmations. We can’t wait to see you at the W Singapore on April 25! February 10: In light of The Ministry of Health upgrading its Disease Outbreak Response level to Orange, we feel we have a duty of care to postpone all of our events until further notice. Our priority is to safeguard you, as our members, and your health, which means we have to do everything in our power to limit further spread of the virus. We appreciate your understanding and we will keep you updated on any developments. February 6: AAS continues to monitor Ministry of Health updates on the novel Coronavirus in connection with the February 15 George Washington Ball. The MOH today has recommended additional precautionary measures to minimize risk of further transmission in Singapore. The Ball venue, the W Hotel, has put in place screening procedures, rigorous sanitary and hygiene protocols, and other measures to protect guests. Nonetheless, the Association is consulting with the hotel and appropriate authorities to determine whether the event should continue as scheduled in light of MOH advice. Your health and safety is our top priority. We will advise soonest on the status of the George Washington Ball and other upcoming AAS-sponsored events. February 4: As of February 3, 2020, 2pm, there have been no new cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infection in Singapore. 18 confirmed cases were earlier announced. All 18 confirmed cases have recent travel history to Wuhan. There is currently no evidence of community spread in Singapore. All are in stable condition. None of the previously announced cases are critically ill and most are improving. Contact tracing for all confirmed cases is ongoing. The American Association is open for business as usual, and this means all of our events are still going ahead! We are closely monitoring the situation and following the MOH advice. T...
